Marie Maynard Daly  

Mary Maynard Daly was the first African American woman in the United States to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry.  She made important contributions in four areas of research: the chemistry of histones, protein synthesis, the relationships between cholesterol and hypertension, and creatine's uptake by muscle cells


Mae Carol Jemison 

Mae Carol Jemison is an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut. She became the first black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Alice Augusta Ball 

Alice Ball was an American chemist who developed the "Ball Method", the most effective treatment for leprosy during the early 20th century.


Ronald Erwin McNair 

Ronald McNair was an American NASA astronaut and physicist. He died during the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger on mission STS-51-L, in which he was serving as one of three mission specialists in a crew of seven

Calvin Mackie 

Calvin Mackie is an American mentor, motivational speaker, former engineering professor and entrepreneur. Dr. Mackie and his wife founded STEM NOLA, a non profit organization whose mission is to expose, inspire and engage communities in learning about opportunities in STEM through hands on project based learning opportunities.
