Teen Programs at NORDC

NORD Teens are doing BIG things, and we want you. If you are 13 to 17 years old and live in Orleans Parish, this is the place to be! NORD Teens provides diverse academic, professional and enrichment-based programming throughout the year.

Meetings are generally held on the second Saturday of every month via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All teen programming is free and open to Orleans Parish teens, ages 13-17.

ACT Prep Program

Chevron presents the ACT Prep Program for teens preparing to take the ACT for college entry.  This program is offered through the industry’s leader in test prep, Princeton Review.  Expert Instruction. Productive Prep. Engaging Teachers. Better Scores!  No cost and open to teens taking in the ACT.   

Teen Council

The NORD Teen Council is a year-long enrichment-based curriculum aimed towards empowering teens through event planning, character development and monthly recreation opportunities. Additionally, these promising youth earn service hours through teen-oriented social action and community service projects. To be a member, fill out the application.

Virtual Meetings are held every second Saturday of the month via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Zoom meeting link is emailed prior to every meeting.

Chevron Future Leaders

The Chevron Future Leaders Program is an innovative leadership development program offered by NORD and supported by Chevron.  Designed to prepare future leaders for post-high school success in both college and the workplace, this program focuses on skills development and early career exploration for young adults from schools across the city. The ambitious curriculum exposes future leaders to qualities of successful business and community leaders and addresses topics such as public speaking, fine dining etiquette, entrepreneurship, environmental awareness and career pathways.  

CFL applicant requirements:

1. Completed application
2. A current report card
3. Two letters of recommendations  (Must be unrelated adult mentor)
4. 500 word essay on "What is My Leadership Style?"
5. Be prepared for an entrance interview

To apply, submit corresponding documents via email to nordcteens@nola.gov.  Space is limited. 

Teen Centers

Teen Centers are a fun and safe place where teens from local communities can socialize and have positive interactions with peers.  

Teen center locations:

Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 4-8 pm.

Teen Programs at NORD

Glam U 101

Glam U mentors girls and builds confidence. Programming includes runway classes, fashion shows, makeup lessons, photo shoots, and more. $75 one-time fee. Tuition assistance is available. For information contact info@glamu101.org. Girls, ages 13–18.  Virtual Programming available.

Teen Council Special Events

Teen Council events are designed for teens and by teens. Events offer all teens a great way to have fun in a good manner. Events are free and open to New Orleans residents ages 13-17 unless otherwise noted. Refer to our calendar to keep up with upcoming events.
