Monster Jam 2018 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome

Sponsored Review

My family and I had the opportunity to attend Monster Jam at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome this weekend. My four year old son had been waiting for this day. He was constantly asking how many more days until we got to see the Monster Trucks at Monster Jam. He was so excited and could barely wait. This year, my husband and I decided to go ahead and attend the Pit Party. So we got to see the trucks up close and meet the drivers. The little one was in heaven playing with his monster trucks in the actual dirt the big monster trucks drive on.

We surveyed the boys after the show and their favorite Monster Trucks were Soldier Fortune, Grave Digger, Monster Energy and Toro Loco. They loved being able to judge each truck's performance by casting their vote to the website.

The Monster Trucks that performed this weekend in New Orleans were Bad News Travels Fast driven by Brandon Derrow, Bounty Hunter driven by Jimmy Creten, EarthShaker driven by Steven Thompson, El Toro Loco driven by Becky McDonough, FS1 Cleatus driven by Marc McDonald, Grave Digger driven by Morgan Kane, Lucas Oil Crusader driven by Linsey Weenk, Monster Energy driven by Coty Saucier, Raminator driven by Mark Hall, Saigon Shaker driven by Ryan Disharoon, Scarlet Bandit driven by Dawn Creten, Slinger driven by Scott Hartsock, Soldier Fortune driven by Chad Fortune, Zombie driven by Travis Mowery.

Monster Energy won the racing championship, the two-wheel competition, and the overall event while Grave Digger won freestyle

Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds, approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide. They are quite a sight! Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster Jam trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

Monster Jam is definitely one of my family's favorite events. I honestly did not think I would enjoy it myself but after attending in 2016, I have to say I look forward to Monster Jam, as much as my husband and our three sons! Monster Jam is an amazing and fun event for the whole family. My advice is to be sure to bring some headphones to protect everyone's ears - the trucks are super loud.

If you missed Monster Jam at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, you can always take a little trip down to Baton Rouge in April to enjoy the adrenaline filled fun Monster Jam has to offer. For more information click here.
